Nashville Predators Give & Go Tickets – Through April 15th

The Nashville Predators hockey team has made available ticket vouchers for games on Monday-Thursday games through April 15th 2013, to the Tennessee World Affairs Council to share with our members and teachers and students involved in our programs in the past or forthcoming events. Each ticket voucher can be redeemed for two tickets on a first come first served basis.

The Nashville Predators hockey team has made available ticket vouchers for games on Tuesday, Feb 12th (vs. San Jose Sharks) or Thursday, Feb 14th (vs. Phoenix Coyotes) to the Tennessee World Affairs Council to share with our members and teachers and students involved in our programs in the past or forthcoming events. Each ticket voucher can be redeemed for four tickets on a first come first served basis… …The TN WAC has two (four-ticket) vouchers left. Give us a call if you are interested in a night at the Bridgestone cheering on the Preds.

Get Ready for Academic WorldQuest

There’s still time to register for Academic Worldquest. The deadline for teams to signup is February 15th. For the teams already registered and preparing themselves for the competition on March 10, 2013 make sure you are reviewing the Study Guide (available here). Take note that the Tennessee Championship match will use the categories and study guide references contained in the national competition guide. In the case of the “Current Events” topic area the questions will focus on the period Dec 1, 2012-Mar 1, 2013. In general, we recommend reading a variety of reputable national and international news sources. Most news sources (Wall Street Journal, BBC, CNN, Washington Post, etc.) can be obtained free
online.

Event | Celebrate International Human Rights Day!

International Human Rights Day occurs every year to commemorate the ratification of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations on Dec 10, 1948. In Tennessee, Human Rights Day has become a day to reflect and look at lessons learned and battles won, while various human rights groups join forces and commit to creating an even better future. Tennessee will celebrate Human Rights Day on Dec 10, 2012, in Nashville. The day begins at 2pm, with exhibits by area human rights organizations. Then at 4:30, the presentations and awards will begin. Speakers will discuss various human rights topics related to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Prize Update – 2013 Academic WorldQuest for High School Students

The Tennessee World Affairs Council will host the 2013 State Championship Match for Academic WorldQuest for high school students on February 23, 2013 at Belmont University. Today TN WAC is pleased to announce that through the generosity of an anonymous donor we are able to add a special prize at the competition for the 2nd place team — a Kindle Fire tablet for each of the four team members and the coach.
