THIS WEEK @ TNWAC

March 22, 2022

Dear Members and Friends:

What’s up this week?

The unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the threats of escalation and expansion of the conflict and the global implications dominate the news and conversations about global affairs. TNWAC continues to deliver eminent speakers to provide background, context, insights and analyses. You can access our discussion with Ambassador John Kornblum last week in video, transcript and Podcast. You can register for our IN-PERSON global town hall on March 31st with Dr. Roger Kangas of the Defense Department’s National Defense University. We look forward to returning to in-person events at beautiful Belmont University and will continue to mix those with virtual global affairs programs.

This Sunday TNWAC will host students from Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia for the 2022 Anne Smedinghoff Academic WorldQuest global challenge. The TNWAC championship match, which will produce the team that represents TNWAC in Washington for the national match, is set for 1:00pm CT at the Massey Boardroom in the Massey Business Center at Belmont University. You’re invited to attend. Please RSVP at info@TNWAC.org.  Good luck to the players.

We invite our friends in the business community to become engaged in our programs, especially as we resume in-person programming. Consider being a sponsor or event host at your venue for the April 1st visit of Dr. Roger Kangas, details and link below. Thanks.

Wishes for a safe and prosperous week and, as always, thank you for clicking on the “Donate” button. And please keep the people of Ukraine in your thoughts.

Sincerely,

IN-PERSON |RUSSIA’S WAR IN UKRAINE THROUGH THE LENS OF U.S. POLICYMAKERS

Join us for a Global Town Hall with Dr. Roger Kangas on Thursday, March 31st at 6:00pm CT at beautiful Belmont University.

Vladimir Putin’s likely hoped-for lightning strike into Kyiv to decapitate the Zelensky government and subjugate the country has bogged down amid Russian military incompetence and Ukrainian resolve and heroism. The implications of war in Europe are being felt around the world.

Dr. Kangas, an Academic Dean at the Defense Department’s NESA Center at the National Defense University works at the intersection of scholarship and policymaking. He is fresh from a visit of former Soviet republics and will discuss the context of the war in Europe and its implications for United States and European interests. Dr. Thomas A. Schwartz, Distinguished Professor of U.S. foreign policy history at Vanderbilt will join the conversation as moderator.

Don’t miss this special opportunity to get inside the Washington approach to the war in Europe. [Register Now]

BUSINESSES CONSIDER BEING ENGAGED WITH TNWAC PROGRAMS LIKE DR. ROGER KANGAS’ VISIT

What has led to this catastrophe pitting the U.S./NATO and the EU against the Russian Federation? What are the national security concerns? What should businesses know about the implications? To address these and many more questions about war in Europe TNWAC will host a specialist eminently qualified to speak to these questions; Dr. Roger Kangas will be with us in Nashville on March 31-April 1, 2022.
