Do you wonder what jobs and careers there are in international affairs? There’s more than you think. Twice a year the World Affairs Council assembles diplomats, business people, NGO officials, returned Peace Corps volunteers and more to talk about their experiences and insights and to answer your questions at this very popular panel. Join us on April 10th to explore the careers and jobs that are open to you to get out into the world.

Brittain Brantley:
Brantley is an experienced public health professional with expertise in both international and domestic health services delivery systems. Brittain joined the Peace Corps following his undergraduate studies, and served as a Community Health Worker in Nicaragua where he focused on maternal and child health as well as potable water systems. Following his service, he continued his public health work with roles at the CDC, Brookings Institution, and RAND Corporation. Brittain received his B.A. from Kenyon College and his M.P.H. from Emory University.
Todd Hudson:
A native of Germantown, Tennessee, Special Agent Hudson began his career with the United States Secret Service in 1993 at the New York Field Office, before being transferred in 2000 to the Vice Presidential Protective Division in Washington, D.C. Three years later, he entered the agency’s supervisory ranks. He returned to the field in 2005 as an Assistant to the Special Agent in Charge in the Los Angeles Field Office. In 2008 he was assigned as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of Congressional Affairs before later serving as the Executive Assistant to the Director back in Washington, D.C. He has served as the the Special Agent in Charge of the Secret Service’s Nashville Field Office since April 2012. Special Agent Hudson received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and a MBA from the University of Notre Dame.
Fletcher Burton:
Ambassador Burton began his career with the US State Department in 1988, and served in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq before retiring in 2014 as Ambassador and Head of Mission for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since then, he has served as a member of the Kosovo-Border Demarcation Commission, appointed by the President of Kosovo in 2015; and as a Rockefeller Foundation fellow, studying at their center in Bellagio, Italy in 2016.
Elizabeth Rowland:
Elizabeth Rowland founded TN-China Network in the fall of 2014 after having worked in government policy, law, and business for nearly a decade in both the US and China. She first moved to China in 2007 and founded Abella Galleries, an online jewelry company that sourced from China. From 2010 to 2012, Elizabeth joined the American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham China) as a policy analyst and editor of the Chamber’s American Business in China White Paper. In 2012, Elizabeth joined the Beijing office of Covington & Burling law firm as senior manager of policy analysis (a non-lawyer). In 2013, Elizabeth returned to Tennessee and learned that there was no active, state-wide platform to bring together the many people across Tennessee that do business with China so she founded TN-China Network. Elizabeth received her master’s degree in international relations with concentrations on international economics and China studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
