Spread a little love on our birthday. It’s a piece of cake.

Twelve years ago today we trudged through the February rain to the Secretary of State’s office to file papers to create the Tennessee World Affairs Council — the only nonpartisan, nonprofit organization in the state dedicated to making our citizens aware of what’s going on in the world.

Since that Valentine’s Day in 2007 we have delivered programs and resources to thousands of students and members of the community — distinguished speaker appearances, seminars, webcasts, podcasts, student competitions, teacher professional development, and more.

Just this week we delivered Joseph Cirincione, the preeminent voice on the scourge of nuclear weapons in the world, to seven events meeting hundreds of Tennesseans at social groups, classrooms, and our town hall meeting; we interviewed the president of a NGO about the need and his commitment to deliver medical equipment to over 130 countries around the world; we talked with the Ambassador of Japan at our “Global Tennessee” Podcast about US-Japan relations and the importance of foreign direct investment in Tennessee’s economy; we prepared for our “Global Eats” dinner experience and we wrote 100 questions on global issues for the upcoming Academic WorldQuest Championship Match for Tennessee high school students.

  • All of these were delivered to you by the Tennessee World Affairs Council.
  • It relies 100% on your support.
  • It does not receive funding from the government and it is not connected to any political agenda.
  • It exists solely to increase the global literacy of people in our community.

Won’t you share a little love with the Tennessee World Affairs Council on our birthday.

We hope to see our next birthday but need your support to make it happen.

We need and appreciate your support of

the World Affairs Council.
