The spectacular rise of China over the last 30 years has resulted in direct competition with the United States in the realms of economic, national security and political affairs. Minister Xu Xueyuan is a career diplomat with the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs having served multiple roles in the Department of North American and Oceanic Affairs. Her current role is as Minister at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to the United States of America. She was born in Zhejiang Province and graduated from Fudan University in Shanghai.
