About Ambassador Charles (Dick) Bowers
Charles Richard (Dick) Bowers served as the United States Ambassador to Bolivia from 1991 through 1994. During that time, the American Embassy in Bolivia’s capital, La Paz, was the largest and most complex U.S. embassy in South America. [more]
Ambassador Bowers is a member of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee World Affairs Council.
About Ambassador Ronald Schlicher
Ambassador Ronald Schlicher, USFS (Ret) – Served as Principal Deputy Assistant Coordinator of Counterterrorism and served as U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus (2005-2008). Ambassador Schlicher served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA), where he served as Coordinator for Iraq. During the 2003 war with Iraq, Ambassador Schlicher was Director of the Iraq Task Force. He then served for six months in Iraq with the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA), first as Regional Coordinator for the North and then as Director of the Office of Provincial Outreach. [more]
About Professor Thomas Schwartz
Professor of History; Professor of Political Science; Professor of European Studies; Vanderbilt University. Thomas Alan Schwartz is a historian of the foreign relations of the United States, with related interests in Modern European history and the history of international relations. Professor Schwartz has held fellowships from the Social Science Research Council, the German Historical Society, the Norwegian Nobel Institute, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and the Center for the Study of European Integration. He has served as President of the Society of Historians of American Foreign Relations. He served on the United States Department of State’s Historical Advisory Committee as the representative of the Organization of American Historians from 2005-2008. [more]
Directions & Parking
Curb Event Center – Beaman Meeting Rooms A/B – located at the south end of the Beaman Student Life Center.
Curb Event Center is located just off of Belmont Boulevard on the southwest corner of campus. There is free, lighted parking for more than 800 vehicles in a parking garage adjacent to the CEC and Wright and Maddox Halls. Entrances are located off of 15th Avenue and Soccer Field Drive in front of Wright and Maddox Halls and off of Bernard Avenue. For more details on parking, please click here.
