It was her 16th birthday and her audience was the United Nations General Assembly, Secretary General Mr Ban Ki-moon and a global audience through the YouTube video that went viral.. ..We’re sharing this with you today because you should know about her story. You should also know that the Tennessee World Affairs Council has two programs coming up that you should attend. They are film screenings of “Girl Rising” and “Not My Life.” They are both powerful documentaries that tell important stories from around the world and from not so far away.

Wesley Clark; Jon Huntsman, the former Utah governor who has served as ambassador to Singapore and China and was a recent contender for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination; Vicente Fox, former president of Mexico, and Bill Richardson, a former governor of New Mexico who has served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and as secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy, will deliver public lectures at Vanderbilt University March 19-21 as part of the university’s annual Impact Symposium.
