Online University Student Town Hall – Secretary of State Kerry

Secretary of State John Kerry will host a University Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, March 18, at 1:00 p.m. in the Marshall Conference Center at the U.S. Department of State.

The Secretary will deliver remarks on “Making Foreign Policy Less Foreign” to an audience of university students from around the country attending Washington-area programs, Congressional interns, and Department interns.

During the event, Secretary Kerry will unveil the “Department of State by State” map project that showcases how the Department’s programs benefit each of the 50 States. He also will explain how students around the country can connect with the Department through the Special Advisor for Civil Society and Emerging Democracy’s DiplomacyLab program, which gives faculty-led teams of students the opportunity to take on projects with real-world applications for the Department.

Following the Secretary’s remarks, BuzzFeed’s Miriam Elder will moderate a discussion with the Secretary and Special Advisor for Civil Society and Emerging Democracy Tomicah Tillemann, and take questions from the audience.

The Town Hall will be streamed live on www.state.gov. You can join the conversation on social media using the hashtag #StateWorksforUS, and follow @StateDept for more information.
