Our in-person events at the Tennessee World Affairs Council offer dynamic opportunities to engage with global issues right in your community. From expert panels and speaker series to cultural celebrations and networking receptions, these gatherings provide a space for meaningful dialogue and connections. Attendees can deepen their understanding of international affairs, interact with diplomats and thought leaders, and meet others who share a passion for global education. Our in-person events are designed to inform and create lasting connections that bridge local and global perspectives.
A hallmark of the World Affairs Council has been the quality of the keynote speakers as part of the Distinguished Speakers Series – foreign ambassadors, American diplomats, business leaders, government officials, scholars, military officers, and other thought-leaders and specialists.
The Student Leaders Without Borders brings engaging global conversations directly to K-12 students, empowering the next generation with the knowledge and perspectives they need in today's interconnected world. Through this program, students explore international issues, diplomacy, and cultural understanding, guided by global experts, and thought leaders. The series offers interactive discussions, workshops, and resources tailored to young learners, inspiring them to think critically about global challenges and consider their role as future leaders. By connecting students with real-world global insights, we’re helping to broaden horizons, spark curiosity, and build globally-minded citizens ready to positively impact their communities and beyond.
“Our “Global Eats” events offer a unique cultural and culinary experience that brings the world to your plate. Join us as we explore authentic cuisines from around the globe at local restaurants featuring rich and exotic flavors. These events go beyond dining, offering rich conversations about the featured country’s history, culture, and traditions, often with guest speakers or cultural demonstrations. Led by a host country representative, “Global Eats” is the perfect blend of food, culture, and learning, providing a delightful way to connect with diverse perspectives while enjoying a shared meal with fellow globally-minded individuals.
