SUMMARY:Luncheon | Gen David Petraeus | Book Signing | Nov 10
DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED\n  \nRegister Now \n \nAND\n\nPRESENT\n\n\nDISTINGUISHED VISITING SPEAKER PROGRAM \nIn Person \nGeneral David Petraeus\n\n\n \nGeneral\, U.S. Army (Retired); former Director\, Central Intelligence Agency; former Commander U.S. Central Command\nAuthor of “Conflict: The Evolution of Warfare from 1945 to the Russian Invasion of Ukraine” with Andrew Roberts \n\n\nLuncheon and Book Signing\nBelmont University\, Janet Ayers Conference Center\, 1900 Belmont Blvd.\, Nashville \nFriday\, November 10\, 2023\n12:00-1:00 p.m. CT \nREGISTRATION HAS CLOSED\n  \n. \nBook Signing \nIn connection with General Petraeus’ presentation we will have a book signing of “Conflict: The Evolution of Warfare from 1945 to the Russian Invasion of Ukraine.” \nAbout “Conflict” \nTwo leading authorities—an acclaimed historian and the outstanding battlefield commander and strategist of our time—collaborate on a landmark examination of war since 1945. Conflict is both a sweeping history of the evolution of warfare up to Putin’s invasion of the Ukraine\, and a penetrating analysis of what we must learn from the past—and anticipate in the future—in order to navigate an increasingly perilous world. \nIn this deep and incisive study\, General David Petraeus\, who commanded the US-led coalitions in both Iraq\, during the Surge\, and Afghanistan and former CIA director\, and the prize-winning historian Andrew Roberts\, explore over 70 years of conflict\, drawing significant lessons and insights from their fresh analysis of the past.Drawing on their different perspectives and areas of expertise\, Petraeus and Roberts show how often critical mistakes have been repeated time and again\, and the challenge\, for statesmen and generals alike\, of learning to adapt to various new weapon systems\, theories and strategies. Among the conflicts examined are the Arab-Israeli wars\, the Korean and Vietnam Wars\, the two Gulf Wars\, the Balkan wars in the former Yugoslavia\, and both the Soviet and Coalition wars in Afghanistan\, as well as guerilla conflicts in Africa and South America. Conflict culminates with a bracing look at Putin’s disastrous invasion of Ukraine\, yet another case study in the tragic results when leaders refuse to learn from history\, and an assessment of the nature of future warfare. Filled with sharp insight and the wisdom of experience\, Conflict is not only a critical assessment of our recent past\, but also an essential primer of modern warfare that provides crucial knowledge for waging battle today as well as for understanding what the decades ahead will bring. \n\n\nAbout David Petraeus \nGeneral\, U.S. Army (Retired); former Director\, Central Intelligence Agency; former Commander U.S. Central Command \nGeneral David H. Petraeus (US Army\, Ret.) (New York) is a Partner at KKR and Chairman of the KKR Global Institute\, which he established in May 2013. He is also a member of the boards of directors of Optiv and OneStream\, a Strategic Advisor for Sempra and Advanced Navigation\, a personal venture investor\, an academic\, and the co-author (with British historian Andrew Roberts) of “Conflict: The Evolution of Warfare from 1945 to Ukraine” (October\, 2023). \nPrior to joining KKR\, General Petraeus served over 37 years in the U.S. military\, culminating his career with six consecutive commands as a general officer \, five of which were in combat\, including command of the Surge in Iraq\, command of U.S. Central Command\, and command of coalition forces in Afghanistan. Following retirement from the military and after Senate confirmation by a vote of 94-0\, he served as Director of the CIA during a period of significant achievements in the global war on terror\, the establishment of important Agency digital initiatives\, and substantial investments in the Agency’s most important asset\, its human capital. General Petraeus graduated with distinction from the U.S. Military Academy and is the only person in Army history to be the top graduate of both the demanding U.S. Army Ranger School and the U.S. Army’s year-long Command and General Staff College. He also earned a Ph.D. in international relations and academics from Princeton University. General Petraeus taught both subjects at the U.S. Military Academy in the mid-1980s\, he was a Visiting Professor of Public Policy at the Honors College of the City University of New York from 2013 through 2016\, and he was for 6 years a Judge Widney Professor at the University of Southern California and a Senior Fellow at Harvard University’s Belfer Center. He is currently a Visiting Fellow and Lecturer at Yale University’s Jackson Institute\, Co-Chairman of the Global Advisory Council of the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars\, Senior Vice President of the Royal United Services Institute\, and a Member of the Trilateral Commission\, Council on Foreign Relations\, and the Aspen Strategy Group\, as well as a member of the boards of the Atlantic Council\, the Institute for the Study of War\, and over a dozen veterans service organizations. He is also a LinkedIn Top Voice. Over the past 20 years\, General Petraeus was named one of America’s 25 Best Leaders by U.S. News and World Report\, a runner-up for Time magazine’s Person of the Year\, the Daily Telegraph man of the year\, a Time 100 selectee\, Princeton University’s Madison Medalist\, and one of Foreign Policy magazine’s top 100 public intellectuals in three different years. General Petraeus has earned numerous honors\, awards\, and decorations\, including four Defense Distinguished Service Medals\, the Bronze Star Medal for Valor\, two NATO Meritorious Service Medals\, the Combat Action Badge\, the Ranger Tab\, and Master Parachutist and Air Assault Badges. He has also been decorated by 14 foreign countries and he is believed to be the only person who\, while in uniform\, threw out the first pitch of a World Series game and did the coin toss for a Super Bowl. \n\n\n \nTHE MISSION of the nonprofit\, nonpartisan Tennessee World Affairs Council is to promote international awareness\, understanding and connections to enhance the region’s global stature and to prepare Tennesseans to thrive in our increasingly complex and connected world. \nTHE VISION of  the Tennessee World Affairs Council is a well-informed community that thinks critically about the world and the impact of global events.

And what must America offer to a newly empowered developing world when we’re no longer the only major player? \nIn The American Imperative\, international development expert Daniel Runde makes the case for building a new global consensus through vigorous internationalism and the judicious use of soft power. Runde maps out many of the steps that we need to take––primarily in the non-military sphere––to ensure an alliance of stable and secure\, like-minded\, self-reliant partner nations in order to prevent rising authoritarian powers such as China from running the world. \n\n\nAbout Daniel F. Runde \nDaniel F. Runde is a senior vice president\, director of the Project on Prosperity and Development (PPD)\, and holds the William A. Schreyer Chair in Global Analysis at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)\, a leading global think tank. \nMr. Runde also served as the acting director for the CSIS Americas Program from 2020-2022. His work is oriented around U.S. leadership in building a more democratic and prosperous world. Among his many other contributions\, Mr. Runde was as an architect of the BUILD Act\, contributed to the reauthorization of the U.S. EXIM Bank in 2018\, and was an architect of Prosper Africa\, a U.S. government initiative to deepen the United States’ commercial and development engagement in Africa. He has been a leading voice on the role and future of the World Bank Group and U.S. leadership in the multilateral system. \nPrior to CSIS\, Mr. Runde held leadership roles at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the World Bank Group. Earlier in his career\, Mr. Runde worked in commercial banking at Citibank in Argentina and in investment banking at Alex. Brown & Sons. \nMr. Runde was granted the Officer’s Cross in the Order of Isabel la Católica\, a Spanish civil order. Currently\, he serves on the board of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES)\, the Western NIS Enterprise Fund (WNISEF)\, Spirit of America\, and the Ashesi University Foundation. Mr. Runde is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Bretton Woods Committee. Putin’s Mercenaries” and David Kaiser\, medical services volunteer supporting Ukraine’s wounded military and civilians. \n\n\n\nAbout Ewa Galicia \n\nEwa Galica is a graduate of the University of Warsaw. She began her journalism career in 2007 at the American television station NBC News in London. She has been associated with TVN and TVN24 for 13 years. She is the author of documentaries distinguished with awards at the World Media Festival in Hamburg: Uwolnić kapitana (Free the Captain) about the case of Captain Andrzej Lasota\, who was held in a Mexican prison for almost two years\, and Sąd biskupi i sekret papieski (The Bishop’s Court and the Pope’s Secret) in which Mariusz Milewski\, molested as a child by a priest\, reveals the secrets behind how the Church justice system operates. \nAbout “The Wagner Group: Putin’s Mercenaries” \nTrailer | Warning: Contains violent scenes \nDirector’s Statement \nThe film reveals the true face of the head of the Wagner Group\, Yevgeny Prigozhin\, who himself admits that his mercenaries “will win over Ukraine\, and later over NATO and the whole world”\, leaving no doubt how dangerous this organization is not only for Ukraine but also for all of us. \nAll the interlocutors of the director\, Ewa Galica\, pursue their goal with great determination: to reveal the details of the functioning of the Wagner Group\, which\, in their opinion\, threatens Western democracies. In the beginning\, the Wagner Group was a closely guarded secret\, Putin’s secret project\, today it is an officially registered company and is becoming more and more dangerous by the day. Former mercenaries appearing in the film: Alexander and Marat\, and the Russian dissident Vladimir\, risk their lives to tell about the crimes of the Wagnerians and the details of recruiting new mercenaries. They hope that by releasing this information\, the Wagner Group will be recognized as a terrorist organization worldwide. The film was made thanks to their courage. \nSynopsis \nThe illegal in Russia private military company “Wagner Group” rose in popularity during the war in Ukraine. In The Wagner Group. Putin’s Mercenaries documentary Ewa Galica talks to former Wagner Group mercenaries who fled to the West\, disagreeing with the group’s methods of operation. The film also features a Russian dissident who risks his life by revealing information concerning executions within the group\, crimes committed by its members\, and their contracts. The work contains previously unpublished footage of the Wagner Group members\, shot during the fighting on the Ukrainian front. \n“The Wagner Group. Putin’s Mercenaries” sheds light on the activities of the Wagner Group\, a private mercenary army created by Yevgeny Prigozhin\, nicknamed “Putin’s cook.” Initially\, the group guarded the interests of the Kremlin wherever Russia could not send a regular army. It operated in Africa and the Middle East\, where it was famous for its brutality and ruthlessness. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the first defeats of Putin’s army\, they were engaged in operations at the front. The film features the Wagnerians\, former mercenaries of the Wagner Group\, who fled to the West\, refusing to agree to its methods of operation. The document also features a Russian dissident who risks his life by revealing information about internal executions\, new mercenaries and their contracts. The film is illustrated with previously unpublished recordings of Wagnerians made during the fighting on the Ukrainian front and the recruitment process of Wagnerians in Russian prisons documented with hidden cameras. \nAbout David Kaiser \nDavid Kaiser is a medical specialist and volunteer who helps facilitate treatment for Ukrainian military and civilian casualties in Poland and in Ukraine\, especially amputees\, through an array of organizations supporting the humanitarian needs of victims of the unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine. \nKaiser is a former Captain Infantry\, United States Army\, 1968-1971\, served as Combat military advisor to the Vietnamese\, psychological operations\, and instructor in tactics and jungle warfare. Team leader- Mobile Advisory Team I-19\, 1969-1970\, Que Son\, Viet Nam. He brings comprehensive “know how” in the development and operations of new medical initiatives. Mr. Kaiser has developed and operated integrated health care delivery systems including for Health Maintenance Organisations (HMO)\, Consolidated Medical Group Practices\, Hospitals\, and Medical Marketing in the USA\, Central and Eastern Europe. Medical delivery\, physician governance and reimbursement mechanisms continue to evolve into comprehensive and complicated systems. Mr. Kaiser has been influential in implementing many comprehensive delivery initiatives into the infrastructure where health delivery is a major concern. \nBackground \nWith the beginning of the war in Ukraine\, including the armed military response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine\, global leaders have partnered to support a significant increase in wartime injuries and casualties. Individuals with polytrauma and major limb amputation constitute one of the most severe injuries. \nReports from the Ministry of Health\, Ukraine confirms that 500+ soldiers\, civilians\, and children with limb amputations need prosthetic\, orthotic\, and mental health care. An immediate need has been identified for the development of programs to support these individuals with complex polytrauma. This includes individuals with two or more “trauma” diagnoses\, including but not limited to major limb amputation\, traumatic brain injury\, spinal cord injury\, and emotional\, physiological\, and psychological trauma. \nWhile many military casualties and trauma instances are known\, we know many civilian adults and children who have also experienced severe trauma\, including loss of a limb\, other life-altering injuries\, and psychological trauma. \nOpportunity \nEncouraged the Ministry of Health\, Ukraine (which is responsible for wartime rehabilitation)\, The Ukrainian National Guard\, Baylor College of Medicine\, the Polish government healthcare system\, and ‘Alliance for Innovation (AFI)\, a US/Polish entity focused on healthcare delivery and trauma treatment\, have established a rehabilitation center of excellence in Poland to manage short and long-term patient care. \nBaylor’s team includes experts from Center for Prosthetic & Orthotic Care and Clinical Innovation\, the H. Ben Taub Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation\, and the Center for Global Health. AFI’s team includes medical professionals\, retired military experts\, logistic experts\, and Not for Profit (NPO) staff. \nThis opportunity has resulted in an advanced team to establish the prosthetic and rehabilitation components various settings in Poland that will be set to treat individuals with amputation\, polytrauma\, PTSD\, and other rehab needs. \n• Long-term care will be coordinated with local prosthetists and orthotists from Poland and Ukraine\, with Baylor’s clinicians working closely with the local teams\, including Ottobock Poland (global prosthetic company)\, to address the acute and long-term challenges. \n• Establishing a state-of-the-art clinic and laboratory will be designed to provide the best available care to the victims of the war in Ukraine and the surrounding regions. \n• The operational team includes academic faculty and clinicians\, military operation specialist\, wartime physicians\, and local/global leaders with support from the Ukrainian and Polish Ministries of Health\, the Ukrainian National Guard\, and multiple governmental\, humanitarian\, NPOs\, academic\, and private organizations. \n• This center will originate in Poland’s CSK MSWiA (Sziptala Kliniczznego Ministry of Interior Hospital) located in Warsaw. It will provide prosthetic\, orthotic\, psychological\, physical medicine\, orthopedics\, musculoskeletal\, and polytrauma rehab in line with these specialties and targeted therapies for rehabilitation and restoration. \n• Other hospitals and rehabilitation facilities in addition to the one in Warsaw have offered their services. \nOther Involvement and Support: \nAugust Mission provided logistical support\, and Operation Walk Chicago offered to provide wheelchairs for the patients. Also\, the Virginia Commonwealth University and Denver\, Colorado’s Craig Hospital for Traumatic Brain Injury/Neurological Disorder\, and others may send volunteers\, while the University of Massachusetts’ Spalding Rehabilitation Center may provide a telemedicine solution to the project. \nThe first patients arrived in Warsaw in mid-November 2022 and were immediately housed in a hotel annex on the hospital campus. \nThe first two soldiers lost their left arms during combat operations in March and April\, 2022 in Mariupol. After amputation\, one was also a prisoner of war for 1 an ½ months until the first prisoner swap. \nThey were identified by the National Guard of Ukraine\, necessary papers processed including the signature of Informed consent previously developed by our legal team in English\, Polish\, and Ukrainian; this to agree to transportation cross-border\, sharing of medical records\, and treatment protocols. \nOnce settled in the hotel\, Ottobock was with them the following day to meet and explain the prosthesis process\, demonstrate expectations\, take measurements\, and arrange for follow up meeting for fittings and training. \nThe following day\, Alliance of Innovation met to provide psychological evaluation and assessment for future needs. \nA patient advocate to interface for communication\, other needs such as washing clothes\, access to television in Ukrainian and hair cut would interface for other amenities. \nThese soldiers were properly fitted\, trained\, informed of procedures for follow-up\, and the onsite team returned them to their homes and families just before Christmas. \n\n\n\nTHANKS TO OUR PARTNERS IN GLOBAL AFFAIRS AWARENESS AND EDUCATION OUTREACH \n \nTHANKS TO OUR PARTNERS IN GLOBAL AFFAIRS AWARENESS \n \nTHANKS TO DISTINGUISHED VISITING SPEAKER SERIES PARTNERS \n \nTHANKS TO TNWAC CORPORATE MEMBERS FOR SUPPORT TO EDUCATION OUTREACH PROGRAMS \n \nTHANKS TO OUR SUPPORTERS IN GLOBAL AFFAIRS AWARENESS AND EDUCATION OUTREACH \n \n \nTHANKS TO OUR PARTNERS IN GLOBAL AFFAIRS AWARENESS AND EDUCATION OUTREACH \n \nA PROUD MEMBER OF THE WORLD AFFAIRS COUNCILS OF AMERICA SINCE 2007 AND CO-WINNER OF THE COUNCIL OF THE YEAR (2022) \n \nTennessee World Affairs Council Profile | Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee \nMember\, Center for Nonprofit Management \nTHE MISSION of the nonprofit\, nonpartisan Tennessee World Affairs Council is to promote international awareness\, understanding and connections to enhance the region’s global stature and to prepare Tennesseans to thrive in our increasingly complex and connected world. \nTHE VISION of  the Tennessee World Affairs Council is a well-informed community that thinks critically about the world and the impact of global events.

This year the clock ticked closer. \nA time of unprecedented danger: It is 90 seconds to midnight\nJanuary 2023 “Doomsday Clock” Statement \n\nOne attendee will be selected to receive a copy of “American Prometheus: The Trimuph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer\,” by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwood\, the biography behind the movie\, “Oppenheimer.” \n \n“American Prometheus is the first full-scale biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer\, “father of the atomic bomb\,” the brilliant\, charismatic physicist who led the effort to capture the awesome fire of the sun for his country in time of war. Immediately after Hiroshima\, he became the most famous scientist of his generation-one of the iconic figures of the twentieth century\, the embodiment of modern man confronting the consequences of scientific progress. \n“He was the author of a radical proposal to place international controls over atomic materials-an idea that is still relevant today. He opposed the development of the hydrogen bomb and criticized the Air Force’s plans to fight an infinitely dangerous nuclear war. In the now almost-forgotten hysteria of the early 1950s\, his ideas were anathema to powerful advocates of a massive nuclear buildup\, and\, in response\, Atomic Energy Commission chairman Lewis Strauss\, Superbomb advocate Edward Teller and FBI director J. Edgar Hoover worked behind the scenes to have a hearing board find that Oppenheimer could not be trusted with America’s nuclear secrets. \n“American Prometheus sets forth Oppenheimer’s life and times in revealing and unprecedented detail.” \n–Amazon \n\n\nAbout Dr. Rachel Bronson \n\nRachel Bronson is the president and CEO of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. The leaders discussed their mutual interests in the context of the world of 1945\, but the longstanding conventional thinking about the relationship was not the basis for building ties. So says Professor David Des Roches\, Army combat veteran\, who served numerous tours in the Middle East and now specializes in the Arabian Peninsula at the Defense Department’s Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies. He notes there’s a shortfall in the knowledge of the history of America’s security interests with the Kingdom. \nThe lack of detail in that knowledge is a point also made by Commodore Abdulateef al Mulhim who served a career in the Royal Saudi Navy and who is a consultant and commentator on global affairs\, especially the U.S.-Saudi relationship. The deep ties and shared interests\, he says\, are little understood as he points to the successful partnership in the Cold War\, in tackling regional security challenges and in serving as a reliable provider of global energy resources. Mulhim\, who received his undergraduate education at the State University of New York Maritime College\, notes that the liberation of Kuwait and other American military operations in the region would not have been possible with the close partnership. \nThe U.S.-Saudi ties span many dimensions: political\, military\, economic\, cultural\, academic and more. However\, the conversation in the U.S. about America’s relationship with Saudi Arabia is generally focused on leadership issues. Former American Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Chas Freeman likened it to a marriage that had its ups and downs but had staying power based on the mutual benefit. The national security partnership\, said Des Roches\, was very good\, adding\, until Jamal Khashoggi. The brutal murder of the journalist put the conduct of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the spotlight amid accusations he ordered the crime. The White House has worked to move forward but a number of issues remain. Meanwhile\, the strategic importance of the relationship\, the “tough neighborhood” American military forces continue to engage in\, and the interest in the stability and safe availability of Arabian Peninsula energy supplies make it important to understand that piece of U.S.-Saudi ties. \nJoin TNWAC in a Global Dialogue Zoom Webinar featuring Commodore Abdulateef al Mulhim and Professor David Des Roches with moderator\, Patrick Ryan\, TNWAC President on July 19 at 12:00 pm Central Time\, 1:00 pm Eastern Time and 8:00 pm Saudi Arabia Standard Time to discuss the historical context and more. \nWe’ll explore these questions and more\, and your questions too: \n\nWhat is the current state of the mil-to-mil partnership?\nWhat is the significance of GCC partners signing the Abraham Accord with Israel?\nWhat is the impact of Riyad’s improved relations with Russia and China?\nWhat is the impact of Riyad’s improved relations with Iran?\nHow has the Saudi-led alliance’s war in Yemen affected U.S. ties?\nHow can the U.S. and Saudi Arabia improve mutual security interests in the Gulf?\n\nAbout Abdulateef al Mulhim \nAbdulateef Al Mulhim is Vice President at Saudi Consulting Services-Saudi Consult. DESCRIPTION:TNWAC | World Affairs Council of the Year 2022 \nRegister Now \n\n\nDISTINGUISHED SPEAKER SERIES\nvia Zoom\nKurdistan Region Developments\nThe View from the KRG Rep to the United States\n \nHon. Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman\n  \nMarch 8\, 2023 @ 12:00 p.m. CT\nWith Moderator \n\nLCDR Patrick Ryan\, USN (Ret)\nFounding President\, TNWAC \nRegister Now\n\nThe story of the Iraqi Kurds and the establishment of the autonomous zone and the Kurdish Regional Government is a great Middle East epic that continues to play out. The Kurds have sought to carve out their own state amid the turmoil of unfolding regional history. They’ve been gassed and chased into the mountains by Saddam Hussein and attacked by the dangerous terror group ISIS. The Kurds have stood up courageously against their opponents. \nThe Iraqi Kurds and the United States have had a long history of cooperation and sadly\, at times\, abandonment. The aspirations of the people of Kurdistan took shape in the 2017 independence referendum as the coalition battle against ISIS was winding down. The referendum won with 92% of Kurds voting to free the region from Baghdad’s authority. However\, the central government through a Supreme Court ruling\, quashed the initiative. The KRG continues its close relationship with Washington as it continues to navigate a tough neighborhood\, wedged among its Iraqi neighbors and Turkey\, Iran and Syria. The KRG has been very well represented in Washington by the Hon. Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman. TNWAC is pleased to host her for a conversation about the relationship with the U.S. and developments in Kurdistan and the region. High school students from across Tennessee are invited to play. TNWAC has also welcomed teams from other states who do not have a nearby AWQ program available. \nThe TNWAC AWQ program is named in honor of Anne Smedinghoff\, a United States Foreign Service Officer posted at the U.S. Embassy\, Kabul Afghanistan. She was killed in the line of duty in 2013 by a car bomb while an American team was delivering books to an Afghan school. Learn more about Anne Smedinghoff HERE. \n \nWorldQuest is a team game testing high school students’ knowledge of international affairs. In the game\, four-person teams compete by answering multiple-choice questions divided into ten engaging thematic categories (below). The championship match (Mar 2023) will be in person at Belmont University. The two practices sessions will be virtual. \nRecent WorldQuest seasons have been impacted by Covid-19 measures. There are no restrictions in place as of September 2022 but TNWAC will ensure compliance with CDC\, WACA and other appropriate steps should public health concerns arise. \n \nThe top-ranked Tennessee WAC finisher in the competition will be designated the TNWAC champions and will represent TNWAC at the National Championship match in Washington\, D.C.\, April 2023 at the United States Institute of Peace. \nThe Tennessee World Affairs Council will provide an escort for the team visit to Washington and will schedule visits to international affairs institutions and organizations. Covid-19 restrictions may limit venue availability. \n\nWorldQuest is a flagship program of the World Affairs Council’s education outreach efforts and is integrated with other elements such as the “What in the World?” Weekly Quiz — which sharpens students’ knowledge of current global events and the “Global Scholars Diploma” program. \n \nPlans for 2022-23 \nDates \n\nDECEMBER 4\, 2022 – 1:00PM CT – PRACTICE MATCH PART I (optional) via Zoom | Topics 1-5\nJANUARY 29\, 2023 – 1:00PM CT – PRACTICE MATCH PART II (optional) via Zoom | Topics 6-10\nMARCH 5\, 2023 – 1:00PM CT – TENNESSEE ACADEMIC WORLDQUEST CHAMPIONSHIP at Belmont University | check in at 12:30p\nAPRIL 27-30\, 2023 Tennessee Championship Team to Washington\, DC for visits to international institutions.\nAPRIL 28-29\, 2023 Academic WorldQuest National Championship Reception (Friday) and Match (Saturday)\, hosted at the United States Institute of Peace\n\nNotes \n\nTeams can prepare for the competition by reviewing the AWQ Study Guide.
